What happens when the pioneers of shoegaze ask you to treat a technical layout brief like a piece of fine art?

Relocating to Ireland to work with Kevin Shields and Anna on the reissue of three MBV classics wasn’t a just another brief. As a longtime fan of the band, I felt really stoked being asked to help them.

The work itself was in the tiny details. Old scans, manufacturing templates, the different arguments between paper stock and color proof. We spent 3 days together where we disappeared into gatefold jackets, center labels and color proofs, creating a physical object worthy of the music inside.

By balancing rigid manufacturing constraints with a deep dedication to the band’s uncompromising aesthetic, we created a very special release for one of alternative music’s most iconic acts.
